Embrapa Mandioca e Fruticultura - Cruz das Almas/BA
An interciplinary team of 60 researchers coordinates projects with other institutions from Latin America and Africa on issues such as the farmers' organization and the genetic characterization of the numerous varieties of cassavas.
The center is also a major research institution for tropical fruits (pineapple, acerola, banana, citrus, papaya, mango and passion fruit). At the national level, it operates strategically in the development of cassava and tropical fruit, produces technologies specially targeted for irrigated agricultural poles and also emphasizes family agriculture. It has also contributed with the introduction of in natura fruits to the market.
