Embrapa Clima Temperado - Pelotas/RS
Embrapa Temperate Agriculture is an eco-regional research center covering the temperate region of southern Brazil. It works in investigating new sustainable uses for agrobiodiversity, land ordering for agricultural activities expansion, rehabilitation of degraded areas, bioenergy production and new inputs for agriculture, food security, aggregation of value to products and development of new technology formats. Among the 340 employees, 78 are researchers who conduct their activities in three bases. The headquarters are located at BR 392 highway, km 78, featuring modern research facilities. At Km 88 of the same highway, there is Cascata Experimental Station, where research activities are focused on family farms and agroecology. In Capão do Leão municipality, the Lowlands Experimental Station represents the lowland agroecosystem where researches on grain crops and livestock production are carried out.
