Embrapa Pantanal

The Pantanal is the world's largest wetland region with 138.183 square kilometers of biodiversity and natural beauty. For 24 years Embrapa Pantanal has been studying this complex ecosystem and its team of 33 researchers strives to promote sustainable development of the region. Amongst which are the classification and mapping of the Pantanal vegetation, monitoring of the population of wild animals, identification of its fauna and flora and knowledge of its fish species.

It also subsidizes government regulations for its sustainable management and provides information on management systems in leisure and commercial fishing activities, techniques for the management of nutrition for beef cattle and horse reproduction, maintenance of Pantanal the cattle and horse germplasm banks and evaluation of environmental impacts.
