Embrapa Vegetables a Decentralized Unit of the Brazilian Agricultural Research Corporation (Embrapa), linked to the Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock and Supply (MAPA). Created in 1981, the Research Unit is located 40 km away from the center of Brasília (15.93º S; 48.15º W), in the Federal District, and has a technical staff composed of 185 permanent employees, 74 of whom are assistants, 31 technicians, 40 analysts and 40 researchers.

With a focus on research and development for efficient and competitive vegetable production, the Unit is a reference center in Brazil and abroad for its technical and scientific contributions to the sustainability of rural areas and vegetable agribusinesses.

This Unit also works in partnerships for the generation and technology transfer to different social segments, for the benefit of the development of new products and services. The Unit's research also aims for development of materials adapted to Brazilian edaphoclimatic conditions, providing the expansion of the agricultural frontier of vegetables, as well as the regularization of the products offer throughout the year.
